As a native Oklahoman, Micah loves the Oklahoma City community and wants it to be even better than it already is. She is currently a lawyer who represents policy holders when insurance companies wrongfully deny or underpay property damage claims. Micah sees literacy affect the property insurance world, where consumers need to be able to read and understand their insurance policies to fully know their rights and entitlements. She decided to attend law school while working as a child welfare specialist for OKDHS and seeing how literacy can affect every facet of a person’s life, from the job they hold (or lack thereof) to the way they raise and teach their children.
Favorite Book: Reading is a critical part of my everyday life, and I never want to take literacy for granted. My reading usually consists of case law, statutes, and news articles, but of the books I’ve had the privilege of reading for fun, I thoroughly enjoyed The Art of Racing in the Rain.
